35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
Saturday Devotional:
Imagine you’re on a road trip with friends. The sun is setting, the music is just right, and you’re cruising down the highway…
Then, out of nowhere, a massive storm hits. Wind, rain, and hail are slamming against your car, and visibility is zero.
Panic sets in. 😳
Now, imagine one of your friends in the backseat is peacefully napping through all of this. You’d probably be a mix of scared and annoyed, right?
That’s pretty much what the disciples felt. They were seasoned fishermen, yet this storm had them freaking out.
Meanwhile, Jesus is snoozing on a cushion. Their panic hits a peak, and they wake Him up with, "Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?"
Jesus, calm as ever, gets up, tells the storm to chill out, and then asks them why they’re so afraid. His question cuts deep: "Do you still have no faith?" Oof.
But He wasn’t just rebuking them; He was teaching them (and us) a lesson.
Even in the fiercest storms, Jesus is in control. He can calm the chaos with just a word.
Reflection Questions:
What storms in your life make you feel like the disciples, panicking and fearful?
How can you remind yourself of Jesus’ power and presence in the midst of your personal storms?
In what ways can you cultivate a deeper faith, trusting Jesus even when circumstances are scary?

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being with us in every storm. Help us to trust in Your power and presence, even when life feels overwhelming. Strengthen our faith and remind us that You are always in control. Teach us to rely on You more each day. Amen.
Jesus calms storms—both the literal and the figurative ones. Trust in His power, and let your faith grow even when the winds howl and the waves crash. He’s got this, and He’s got you.
