Let's dive in!

Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, ² then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. ³ Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, ⁴ not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

⁵ In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:

⁶ Who, being in very nature God,
    did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
⁷ rather, he made himself nothing
    by taking the very nature of a servant,
    being made in human likeness.
⁸ And being found in appearance as a man,
    he humbled himself
    by becoming obedient to death—
        even death on a cross!

⁹ Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
    and gave him the name that is above every name,
¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
    in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
¹¹ and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
    to the glory of God the Father.

Saturday Devotional:

Hey there! Ever had one of those days where everyone seems to be out for themselves?

Maybe it's the person who cuts in line at the coffee shop or the co-worker who takes credit for your idea. 😩

It’s easy to feel frustrated and want to put yourself first…

But let’s hit pause and take a look at Philippians 2:1-11. Paul’s got some wisdom that can flip our perspective upside down. 🔁

Paul kicks off by reminding us about the perks of being with Christ—encouragement, comfort, sharing in the Spirit, tenderness, and compassion. Sounds pretty awesome, right?

Then he drops the bomb: make my joy complete by being like-minded and loving each other deeply.

It’s like he’s saying, “Guys, let’s get on the same page and spread the love!” 🫶

Now, here's the kicker: "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves." Oof!

That’s a tough pill to swallow in a world that screams, "Me first!" But Paul isn't just giving us a tough rule; he’s showing us the ultimate example…

Jesus. 🙌

Imagine this: Jesus, who had all the perks of being God, chose to give it all up.

He took on the role of a servant, became human, and even died a brutal death on a cross.

That’s humility on another level!

And because of that, God lifted Him up to the highest place. 📈

So, when we think about putting others first, we’re not just following a rule—we’re following Jesus’ footsteps.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, thank You for showing us the ultimate example of humility through Jesus. Help us to follow His footsteps and put others before ourselves. Give us the strength to live out this love and unity in our daily lives. May our actions reflect Your love and bring glory to Your name. Amen.

Humility isn't about thinking less of yourself; it's about thinking of yourself less. Follow Jesus' example, and let His love guide your actions every day.
