😟Worried? Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Be

Hey Awesome Friend!

Let's dive in!

25  “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26  Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27  Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

28  “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29  Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30  If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31  So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32  For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33  But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Matthew 6:25-34

Insights:

Jesus is dropping some major wisdom here: life is about more than just food and clothes.

He points to the birds and flowers as proof of God's provision. If God takes care of them, won't He take care of us too? 😌

Worrying doesn’t add a single hour to our lives, but seeking God’s kingdom brings everything we need.

Reflection:

Imagine you’re in the world’s longest checkout line, anxiously watching the clock. That’s what worrying is like—completely unproductive.

Jesus reminds us that God’s got our backs. If He’s feeding birds and dressing flowers, He’s definitely looking out for us. So why stress?

It’s about prioritizing God’s kingdom and letting Him handle the details.

Challenge:

Today, ditch the worry. đŸ«Ą

Seriously, give it the boot. Focus instead on God’s kingdom.

Whether it’s a tough project at work, a family issue, or financial stress, trust that God will provide. Just like He does for the birds and flowers, He’ll take care of you.

Application:

  1. Trust in Provision: When anxiety hits, remind yourself that God cares for you more than the birds and flowers.

  2. Seek His Kingdom: Make a conscious effort to prioritize God’s work and righteousness in your daily life.

  3. Live in the Present: Focus on today’s tasks and trust God with tomorrow’s worries.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What areas of your life do you find yourself worrying about the most?

  2. How can you actively seek God's kingdom in your daily routine?

  3. How does recognizing God's provision for nature help you trust Him more?

Feel free to discuss with a friend.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to trust in Your provision and care. Teach me to seek Your kingdom first and to let go of my worries. May my life reflect a deep faith in Your promises and Your love. Amen.

Remember, God’s provision is perfect. If He cares for the birds and flowers, He’ll definitely care for you. Seek His kingdom first, and let Him handle the rest.
